One of the defining characteristics of Central Baptist is that we believe in the power of prayer! This is evidenced by the Intercessory Prayer Ministry, one of our longest-running and most successful ministries.
In February 1989, under Pastor Wallace Watkins, Central began this ministry. To train the first volunteers, Mrs. Dottie Dee Floyd, coordinator of a similar ministry at Houston’s Tallowood Baptist Church, was brought to Central.
We consider it a privilege and blessing to serve God in this way. We have received hundreds of notes from people whose lives have been touched by prayer. In the twenty-plus years since the beginning of this ministry, we have offered prayers and mailed prayergrams to thousands of people around the world.
Many of the original intercessors are still serving in the ministry, many more volunteers are needed to meet the goal of answering Central’s prayer line twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week. Many hours are available for you to choose from, and training is provided.

WOMEN'S MINISTRY
We are very fortunate to have a sweet fellowship of women here at Central Baptist Church. We exist for the purpose of being community with and to each other as we walk through life together. That takes several different shapes depending on what life is bringing our way.
Some of our “annual” events are the “Welcome Back College Girls” (where we love on the precious young ladies attending any of our local colleges); the “Lottie Moon Christmas Dinner and Auction” (a beautiful night to kick off the holiday season – as we raise money for the Lottie Moon Offering, we are reminded of the true meaning of Christmas); just to mention a few. We also offer opportunities for group Bible Study so we can grow stronger in His Word. As we see needs in our community, we try to help where we feel led. And of course, we also sprinkle in fun activities like game nights, shopping outings, etc.
Anyone is welcome to join us in the planning meetings as we pray and seek God’s guidance for the activities He would have us be involved in. Watch for those details in our Sunday bulletin. Chocolate and laughter are ALWAYS a part of these meetings!!
